Parliamentary & Government Engagement

Interfaith Scotland is committed to assisting (where appropriate) the faith communities of Scotland to engage with the Scottish Parliament. Some of the ways that we do this is to produce four Parliamentary Newsletters per annum which are emailed out to all our members, associate members and friends; we act as Secretariat for the Parliamentary Cross Party Group on Freedom of Religion and Belief; we hold occasional dialogue events in the Scottish Parliament; we employ a Parliamentary Officer to engage with MSPs and encourage their awareness of our work and are engaging with the diversity of faiths in Scotland and we support faith communities to respond to Parliamentary Petitions, consultations and legislation.

One of the most important Government engagements has been our Interfaith Summit with the First Minister of Scotland.  This is anticipated to take place on an annual basis and Interfaith Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Government Equality Unit to ensure a diversity of religious voices at the summit.
